The Boston Wine Expo is one of the city’s most popular annual food and wine events. It features hundreds of wineries from across the country and all over the world that come to expose almost two thousand wines. There is something for everyone and the Boston Wine Expo is a great place for foodies and wine enthusiast to come and satisfy their palate.
The Boston Wine Expo is at its 22nd edition and is held at the end of January of every year at the Seaport World Trade Center and Seaport Hotel in Boston. The show is held for a week with multiple types of events. Since Boston is the seventh largest market for wine in the country, the Boston Wine Expo attracts tens of thousands of Bostonians and food and wine aficionados from around the country.
The Boston Wine Expo features all kinds of events throughout the week. The main attraction is the exposition of hundreds of some of the best wineries in the country and in the world at the Grand Tasting room. The wine exhibitors are divided into four major geographic regions; North America, Western Europe, the Mediterranean and the Southern Hemisphere.
At the Grand Tasting, attendees can get access to hundreds of samples directly from wine producers. Each person gets a special Boston Wine Expo glass that they can use for their tastings. There are both individual tastings and guided tastings at the show. Entry to the Grand Tasting with its samples is $85 to $95 depending on the day, and the price for a two-day access to the event is $145.
The Grand Tasting also features other highlights such as celebrity chef and cooking demonstrations from area restaurants with many types of dishes such as Italian, steak, and seafood. The demonstrations are very entertaining and seating is available on a first-come first served basis. Samples of the foods are also available for attendees.
Those with more money to spend can taste some of the show’s most vintage and expensive wines at the Boston Wine Expo’s Grand Cru Wine Lounge. Here serious wine enthusiasts can sample rare wines before purchasing a bottle. They also have access to some delectable dishes from some of Boston’s best restaurants. While they indulge in excellent wine and food, attendees will also enjoy the live jazz entertainment that is provided. Admission to the Grand Cru Wine Lounge is $175 per ticket per day and includes admission to the Grand Tasting room.
The Boston Wine Expo also features dozens of interesting seminars which cover a wide range of topics and themes such as how to efficiently use knives for an optimal cooking experience, how to match foods, cheeses and oysters with the best wines, presentations about winemaking in different regions in the world, historical accounts of various wines and types, the health benefits of wine, and one-on-one sessions with wine experts among many others.
